GARDEN AS GALLERY:
Over 60 Artists Will Display and Sell their Works in the ArtShow


View Garden Galleries (GUIDED TOURS AT 12, 2, 4 pm)

Several artists have Collaborated with Doug Wood to Create Garden Galleries within the Westfall and Smith/Wismont Gardens. Included are works by Michael Thompson (mixed media sculpture and set design for Dance Collaboration), Don Claus (ceramics), Ralph Jumbeck (painting, mixed media), Kim Caisse (terra cotta sculpture), Nick McGill (metal sculpture) machinesculpture, Michael Daly (watercolors) dalywatercolors , Chicago Hot Glass (Several Excellent Glass Blowing Artists from the Chicago Studio) chicagohotglass to name a few of the artists featured in the Garden Galleries.

GARDEN AS STAGE:
Four Dance Companies Present New Work
Performed in the Park

Performance are at 1PM and 3PM Daily...Program Varies
(Beth McNeill, Perceptual Motion, Anatomical Theatre, Adler Danztheatre Project)


Beth McNeill and the Anatomical Theatre have choreographed new works in collaboration with Michael Thompson, visual artist/sculptor (mixed media). Thompson has designed and defined a large garden gallery/stage with his kites made of oriental papers, material and bamboo. The installation begins in the large sun garden and moves out into the grass areas in front of the garden.

Perceptual Motion and Adler Danztheatre Project have created works to be performed at Wicker Park's historic fountain 'Gurgoyle', restored to the park in 2002, having been absent since it was removed by Jen Jensen in 1908; he replaced it with a wading pool. This project has been supported in part by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs (CAAP grant).

GARDEN AS FORUM: Garden Tours, Educational and Volunteer Opportunities:

Tour the Westfall and Smith/Wismont Gardens - The Gardens Serve the Wicker Park Community both as a beautification effort and as a place to learn or broaden horticultural techniques, learn about volunteering opportunities for garden tending and about our Lecture Series. www.wpgarden.org for more information.

New Book on Historic Wicker Park,Elaine Coorens, Author: Wicker Park from 1673 thru 1929 and Walking Tour Guide Meet Elaine Coorens author of the new book on Historic Wicker Park. Purchase the book and enjoy a self-guided tour of the historic district.

Meet Some of Chicago Gardening Organizations & Wicker Park Community Groups:
Meet with representatives from the Wicker Park Garden Club, Garfield Park Conservatory, Grand Street Gardens (Ornamental Grass Display), Art & Linda's Wild Flowers, Nelson Algren Committee, the Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber, and many more.

GARDEN AS PLAYGROUND:
Meet the Park Kids (Sunday from 12-1 PM) who grew plants from seed and cuttings and then designed a carpet bed for the park. The children were enrolled in a 10 week class designed by Doug Wood of the Wicker Park Garden Club. The teachers and the Park Kids equally enjoyed the whole experience.
